Hit the trails in Switzerland for a vacation that's as active as you choose

If you want an active vacation in an idyllic setting we can't think of a better setting than Switzerland. The scenery is spectacular and the renowned train system transports and holds your luggage while you enjoy the great outdoors. It's a great place to walk, bike, skate, cycle, or canoe.
The name Switzerland evokes images of snow-capped mountains, forests, lakes, and hiking trails through valleys, along alpine ridges, and through pristine countryside.
The Swiss have created a 40,000 mile network of footpaths for people of all abilities. Yellow markers indicate difficulty--the ones with yellow tips being relatively easy walks, and those with a white/red/white tip being the more challenging mountain paths. Over 5,000 mile are designated as the most scenic routes--quite a distinction in a country like this.
And there's an app for that. Switzerland Tourism has designed a Swiss Hike iPhone app that includes routes, altitude, distance, duration, level of difficulty, restaurants and accommodations.
You can rent a bike, mountain bike, or electric Flyer bike that doubles your effort. There are over 500 stations with rentals and battery replacement, and Swiss Trails will deliver where no service is available. Choose an easy ride or a challenging one.
There are over 600 places to stay along the Swiss trails. In between them you can send your luggage along on the train to one of the many stations offering this service and enjoy an unencumbered day.
